EastEnders’ Yolande Trueman is being written out after 5 years on the Square.
Producers say her character has run its course.
But actress Angela Wynter, 50, has hit out at the decision.
‘I’m not unhappy to leave because life is about changes and new beginnings, but I’m unhappy about the producers’ reasoning. You can always write stories for people to act,’ she says.
‘If it has to end, let it be on a good note rather then her character becoming weak due to the producers.’
Yolande’s screen-husband Patrick Trueman – played by Rudolph Walker, 68 – will stay in the soap.
Meanwhile, Elliot Jordan, 25, has been unveiled as the latest resident in Albert Square.
He will play Callum Monks, the son of Vinnie, played by Bobby Davro, 48.
Elliot will be seen on screens in August and is expected to be the show’s latest pin-up.
