Footballer surprises Girls Aloud star at X Factor auditions

Ashley Cole surprised wife Cheryl Cole with a cake and balloons for her birthday yesterday

Cheryl Cole spent her 25th birthday with husband Ashley yesterday – after he turned up in Manchester to surprise her.

The Girls Aloud star was making her way to Manchester United's Old Trafford ground to start recording The X Factor when the footballer arrived with a huge bunch of flowers, balloons and a bag-shaped birthday cake.

‘Cheryl was beaming from ear to ear when Ashley turned up,’ an onlooker says.

‘She didn’t realise he was going to put in an appearance and was stunned when he arrived. She loves Ashley to bits and wants to put all [their relationship problems] behind her,’ the bystander tells the Daily Star.

Her mum Joan and mother-in-law Sue also turned up at the Radisson Hotel to see her.

They were later whisked away in a silver Mercedes with the other X Factor judges Simon Cowell, 48, Louis Walsh, 55, and Dannii Minogue, 36.

The couple have been trying to work out their marriage after Ashley, 27,
cheated on Cheryl last year.
