Newlyweds think legal agreement would be unromantic
Thursday, 26 June 2008
Wayne Rooney has no legal paperwork in place to protect his fortune should he ever split from new wife Coleen McLoughlin.
The couple are said to have declined having a prenuptial agreement drawn up because they felt it would be 'unromantic'.
'We asked Wayne if he was going to arrange to have something in place to protect his fortune, but he said it was not something he and Coleen had talked about,' says a source.
'Coleen was also against the idea and said she thought it was terribly unromantic – and neither of them wanted their day to be overshadowed by a legal document that would determine what would happen if they split up.'
Wayne and Coleen, both 22, married in Italy on 12 June. They have been together since they were at school.
'Wayne thinks he's the luckiest boy in the world to be with Coleen,' the insider tells the Mail On Sunday.
'It never occurred to him that he should think about protecting his assets.'
