Actor says he felt his Dark Knight co-star was a 'kindred spirit'

Christian Bale has opened up about his sadness over the loss of Batman co-star Heath Ledger.
They worked together on The Dark Knight, the last film he completed before his death in January.
‘I want to talk about Heath,’ Christian says. ‘When you miss somebody, you want to speak about him. He was a good man, a unique character, a very infectious character.’
Heath died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs at his Manhattan apartment, aged 28.
‘It takes a long time to accept that someone's gone,’ Christian tells Parade. ‘He was something of a kindred spirit.’
In the movie they play enemies Batman and The Joker. And Christian, 34, says he wants the film to stand as a testament to the Australian actor’s talent.
‘I hope in a small way that The Dark Knight can be a celebration of his work,’ he says.
The Dark Knight premieres in New York on 14 July.
