James Kind found not guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice
Wednesday, 25 June 2008
The pub landlord accused of taking a bribe from Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil has been cleared.
James King was attacked by Blake, 26, and his friend Michael Brown outside a pub in Hoxton, East London, 2 years ago.
Blake and Michael tried to bribe the victim, offering £200,000 if charges against the pair were dropped.
But 36-year-old James said he bullied into withdrawing his statement to police by 2 middlemen acting for the pair.
After 3 hours' deliberation, the jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court found James not guilty of perverting the course of justice.
Blake – who has been on remand in Pentonville prison since November last year – has pleaded guilty to the attack and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He faces up to 5 years in prison.
