Former presenter speaks of his bitterness at 'stitch-up'

John Leslie has made a public declaration of his innocence following his arrest on suspicion of rape.
An unnamed woman has accused the former This Morning host of raping her after she attended a party at his West Sheen home in 1995.
‘I am accused of attacking a person 13 years ago,’ he said as he left his solicitor's office in London yesterday. ‘I do not even know who this person is.
'Another person protected by anonymity that the law gives them is able to drag my name through the mud. I certainly did not attack this person as I have never attacked anyone.
‘If I sound bitter it is because I am. The details of a private police inquiry have been leaked to the press and, once again, I face trial by media.’
John, 43, was arrested on Monday evening and quizzed at a West London police station. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
‘Officers are investigating an allegation of rape and indecent assault on a woman dating from November 1995,’ a police spokesperson says.
In 2003, he was acquitted of 2 counts of indecent assault on a 23-year-old actress. He calls 'stitch-up' these latest allegations 'the mother of all stitch-ups'.
