The Apprentice star may run as Labour candidate in 2012
Tuesday, 24 June 2008
Sir Alan Sugar has responded to rumours that he could be the next London Mayor.
Labour Party insiders are said to be keen to have The Apprentice star as their candidate in 2012 – and he isn't ruling it out.
'It's an interesting thought,' he tells Vanessa Feltz on BBC London
Radio. 'Someone like me, who tends to cut to the chase, would be the right sort of person to look after a city like London.
'It would be a massive challenge.'
Sir Alan, 61, says his wife is keen on the idea and that she told him 'they could do worse'.
But the Amstrad entrepreneur admits it's only a faint possibility.
'One can never say ever, but it's a long shot,' he says.
