Wayne Rooney upset teammate Rio Ferdinand snubbed his big day

Footballer mystified as to why his Man Utd captain failed to show up for his wedding to Coleen McLoughlin

Wayne Rooney is said to be furious with teammate Rio Ferdinand after he failed to show up at his wedding.

The Manchester united footballer married Coleen McLoughlin in Portofino, Italy, on 12 June.

But when the pre-booked car arrived to take Rio and his pregnant fiancée Rebecca Ellison, 27, to the airport, they weren't at home.

‘Wayne and Coleen are mystified Rio chose to miss their big day,’ an insider reveals.

‘They only invited their closest friends and relatives. Everyone who had an invitation was important to them. They wanted their guests to feel special, so they spent a lot of time on travel and accommodation for each of them.’

Wayne and Coleen, both 22, are thought to have forked out nearly £30,000 hiring a villa and private jet for them.

‘For Rio to miss it without warning them was a kick in the teeth,’ the insider tells the Sunday Mirror.

‘Coleen is particularly hurt. She wanted the wedding to be perfect and she gets on well with Rebecca.'

Wayne’s other teammates Wes brown, Michael Carrick and John O’Shea all attended.

Rio, 29, was snapped holidaying with friends in Israel a few days later.
