Wayne Rooney: I always knew Coleen McLoughlin was The One

Manchester United star says he was smitten from the moment they met

Coleen McLoughlin and Wayne Rooney married in Italy last Thursday

Wayne Rooney has said that he always knew he’d spend the rest of his life with Coleen McLoughlin.

The couple started dating at school when they were just 15 – but Wayne says he was certain even then that she was The One.

‘When I first met her, even though I barely knew her, I had a feeling,’ he says.

‘Then the more time we spent together, the more I realised she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.’

But Coleen, 22, says it took her a little longer to realise their relationship was special.

'For me it was a gradual thing,' she tells OK! 'As I got to know Wayne better and to like him more and more, eventually I fell completely in love with him.'

The couple married in Portofino, Italy, last Thursday in a romantic £5 million ceremony.
