The Apprentice star blasts show reject
Wednesday, 11 June 2008
Sir Alan Sugar says he made a mistake in not firing hopeless contestant Michael Sophocles earlier in the series.
The salesman was brought into the boardroom on The Apprentice on several occasions.
But the millionaire decided to give him chance after chance.
‘I thought I saw a glimmer of light and I let him stay about four times. It was a total joke,’ he says.
‘He was completely useless and clueless. He slipped through the net.
'All talk. No doing. He had to go. He's no Bill Gates. Very disappointing.’
Sir Alan, 61, says he initially let Michael, 24, stay because he reminded him of himself.
‘I saw something in him that was similar to me when I was younger,’ he tells the Sunday Mirror.
‘What I saw in the end was someone full of themselves. But when you look at it he can do sod all. Nothing.'
Alex Wotherspoon, 25, Claire Young, 28, Helene Speight, 32, and Lee McQueen, 30, are still in the running to win a coveted job with Sir Alan.
The Apprentice final airs on BBC1 at 9pm.
