Gwen Stefanis husband says he lacked parenting experience
Saturday, 5 July 2008
Gwen Stefani’s husband Gavin Rossdale loves being a dad.
And he says parenthood has made him less selfish.
‘You have to relinquish all self-importance,’ he says. ‘It's not a bad thing. You don't have time to think about yourself.
'I used to wallow in introspection. I don't have time to be that guy now.’
Gwen, 38, and Gavin, 42, who are parents to Kingston, 2, are expecting their second child together later this summer.
The rocker reckons he’s done well despite having no prior experience.
‘I'd been around babies 12 minutes my entire life,’ he tells People. ‘I didn't read any books. And we had friends of ours who were like, “You guys are crazy, you've got to read books."
'It's so natural you just fall into it and you find your way. It's terrifying and exciting and brilliant.’
In 2004, it emerged that Gavin fathered Pearl Lowe's daughter, Daisy, 19.
