Gossip star thinks big women should be proud of their bodies

Beth Ditto is proud of her figure

Beth Ditto disapproves of Fern Britton's decision to have a gastric band fitted to help her lose weight.

The Gossip frontwoman says she's happy with her own fuller figure and reckons Fern should be, too.

‘Big girls should be proud of their bodies,’ Beth, 27, tells the Daily Mirror.

‘I don't believe people should feel the need to take drastic action.’

Fern, 50, had the surgical procedure in 2006. It is usually only recommended as a last resort for people who are morbidly obese.

‘I did this purely for myself and I would not wish to influence others to do the same,’ the TV presenter said in a statement.

‘But for me it has worked and I am very pleased with the results.’

Beth was named International Musician/Solo Artist at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards at London’s Berkeley Square on Tuesday night.
