Head of Year lets Britains Got Talent winner off the hook
Tuesday, 3 June 2008
George Sampson won't be punished for turning up late for school while he starred in Britain’s Got Talent.
The breakdancer was sent a letter by his Cheshire high school saying he had to spend 81 minutes in detention to make up for the time he missed.
But now head of year John Burnham has let George, 14, off the hook.
'It seems someone has jumped the gun and sent out a letter,’ John tells the Daily Star.
‘If George’s mum – whom we know very well – gets in touch to explain to us that the reason for his being late is [because of] Britain’s Got Talent, then I'm confident we will wipe the slate clean.
‘We are very proud of George. We were thrilled he won the ITV show.’
