Royal's duties will include searching ships for drugs
Monday, 2 June 2008
Prince William has started a 2-month stint in the Royal Navy, where he will patrol the Caribbean aboard HMS Iron Duke.
The Royal – who will serve as Sub Lieutenant Wales – will be expected to take part in all naval duties, such as hunting down smugglers and searching suspicious vessels for drugs.
He may also be required to provide disaster relief as his stint takes place during the hurricane season.
‘It's hoped he will take part in all aspects of life on board,’ Rear Admiral Bob Cooling tells People.
‘He will bunk with other young officers – probably in a 4-berth cabin.’
William, 25, will serve on the ship – known for its wild parties – until August 1, when he will return to the Army.
