Eddie Murphy last played Axel Foley 14 years ago

Eddie Murphy is planning to make another movie in his hit Beverly Hills Cop franchise.

The actor will reprise his role as Axel Foley in the 4th instalment – 14 years after he last played the wisecracking detective.

Rush Hour filmmaker Brett Ratner is in talks to direct the film.

Eddie, 47, is keen to start shooting the blockbuster next year so it will be ready to be released by summer 2010.

The first Beverly Hills Cop film hit the box office in 1984.
