Pete Doherty almost missed a performance in London this week – because he had to put his pet to rest.
One of the singer’s cats passed away just hours before he was due to go on stage at theBrixton Mass venue, meaning he didn't arrive until 10.30pm.
‘Sorry I’m late,’ Pete, 29, told the crowd. ‘But considering I’ve had to bury one of my cats at the roadside I’ve done pretty well to be here.’
Meanwhile, Babyshambles have pulled out The Mighty Boosh Festival on 5 July because Pete’s rival Johnny Borrell and his band Razorlight are on the bill.
‘Pete detests Johnny with every fibre of his being,’ a source tells The Sun. ‘He was keen to perform because he’s a huge fan of the Boosh. But when he discovered that Johnny was going to be there, he bottled it.’
The pair fell out at the Leeds Festival in 2005.
