Newlyweds finally confirm the singer is pregnant

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz got married at her parents' home on 17 May

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have announced that the singer is pregnant.

After a flurry of rumours following their quickie wedding, the couple confirmed the news on Pete's site friendsorenemies.com.

‘While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child,’ they say in a statement.

‘This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.’

Ashlee, 23 – younger sister of Jessica Simpson – and Fall Out Boy star Pete, 28, wed in an intimate ceremony on 17 May after getting engaged in April.

They spent their honeymoon in the Caribbean.
