Monday, 26 May 2008
Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood once worked as a drag queen and 'rent boy'.
The BBC1 star, 43, reveals his secret past in his new autobiography, All Balls And Glitter: My Life.
'He has many fans in the UK who value his honesty, so he has decided not leave anything out of the book,' says a pal.
'He's not embarrassed about his past - it made him the man he is today.'
Craig grew up in the Australian town of Ballarat and knew he had to get away to follow a career in dancing.
'He was surrounded by people with small-town mentalities, and had no money and no way to get out of town,' the source tells The News Of The World.
'So he became a rent boy to get the cash to leave. It was not a decision he made lightly but he knew exactly what he was doing.'
Craig became a top choreographer and moved to the UK. Now a TV star, he's decided to tell the truth about his route to success.
'I feel it's a part of my life that is very important I'm honest about,' he explains.
