Gala premiere of Blindness launches 61st year of event

Julianne Moore’s latest movie kicked off the 61st Cannes Film Festival yesterday.

The 47-year-old actress joined co-stars Gael Garcia Bernal, 29, Danny Glover, 61, and director Fernando Meirelles, 52, for the gala premiere of drama Blindness.

And Julianne’s fellow celebs were out in force to show their support at the black tie event.

Natalie Portman, 26, Eva Longoria, 32, X-Files star Gillian Anderson, 39, Cate Blanchett, 39, Sean Penn, 47, Jack Black, 38, and Angelina Jolie, 32, were just a few of the stars to grace the red carpet.

The festival runs for the next 11 days and 22 films are in the running for the prestigious Palme d'Or prize.

The event will also see the world premiere of the latest installment in the Indiana Jones series, Indian Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.
