Biography

Zoey 101 star Jamie Lynn has followed in big sister Britney’s footsteps by launching an acting and singing career.

The youngest of the Spears family, Mississippi-born Jamie Lynn got a leg up in showbiz by appearing in Britney’s 2002 movie, Crossroads, as well as starring in a Pepsi ad.

She was a regular on Nickelodeon comedy show All That but left in 2005 to star as Zoey Brooks in the channel’s Emmy-nominated show Zoey 101. Jamie Lynn – who also sings the show’s theme tune, Follow Me – won a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite TV Actress in 2006.

But it was fresh-faced Jamie Lynn – not her troubled sister – who made the headlines in December 2007 when she announced she was pregnant, aged just 16. Because she was under the age of consent for the state of California, the media speculated whether boyfriend Casey Aldridge – two years her senior – could be charged with statutory rape, but officials said this was not the case.

Jamie Lynn – who returned for the Zoey 101 season finale in May 2008 – gave birth to daughter Maddie Briann Aldridge in June 2008. She has told the press she plans to raise Maddie in Louisiana so that the baby can have a ‘normal life’.
