Both singers will release records at Christmas

Britney Spears has been in the studio working on her new album

Britney Spears and Whitney Houston are to go head-to-head when they release their new albums later this year.

Both singers – who have each had their fair share of troubles in the past – will unveil their latest records in time for Christmas.

‘Britney has been on fire in the studio of late,’ a source tells The Sun. ‘She is determined to make a triumphant comeback. Top brass have been amazed by the quality of tracks they’ve heard.

‘They’re determined Brit will come out on top.’

Whitney, 44, is working with Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am, 33, Akon, 35, and John Legend, 29, on her new material.
