Babyshambles bandmate says singer is 'surprisingly chipper'
Thursday, 24 April 2008
Pete Doherty's Babyshambles bandmate Drew McConnell says he's staying positive during his stay in jail.
The singer is currently in Wormwood Scrubs Prison serving a 14-week sentence for breaking the terms of his probation.
But he's been keeping in contact with Drew, 29, by writing letters.
'For a man behind bars he sounds surprisingly chipper,' he says. 'He's being very positive about the whole situation.'
And he says Pete, 29, is desperate to get back on the road again after having to cancel tour dates because of his incarceration.
'He's champing at the bit to play festivals this summer,' Drew tells the BBC. 'Just to strap his guitar on again and be the front man in Babyshambles.'
