Kanye West and Alexis Phifer split

Rapper ends their six-year relationship

Kanye West and Alexis Phifer have called off their engagement.

The couple had been dating on/off since 2002 and Kanye, 30, proposed on a romantic trip to Italy 2 years ago.

But it seems his hectic work schedule has caused problems in the relationship.

'It's been hard, not been an easy time,' Alexis says.

'I tried to keep things private but, yes, it's sad when things end like this and we truly do remain friends.

'I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavours. He's one of the most talented people I have ever met,' she tells Us Weekly.

Kanye's rep had no comment on the split.
