Supermarket wants more upmarket image for its George line
Wednesday, 23 April 2008
Coleen McLoughlin has been dropped by Asda as the face of its clothing range George.
The WAG's £3m 2-year contract came to an end last month and it isn't being renewed.
'The contract came to a natural end,' her spokesman tells the Daily Mail. 'Asda is changing its campaign to go after 30somethings, which is plainly not Coleen's demographic.'
It's thought the company wants a more up-market image.
Possible candidates to replace her include Sienna Miller, 26, and Carla Bruni, 40.
'Among the names being considered is Carla Bruni,' Asda spokesman Ed Watson says. 'She's very attractive and a highly stylish person. We feel she would fit in very well with the George look.
'Coleen has been a fantastic ambassador for us. But we want to show that our core fashions are for everyone.'
Meanwhile, Coleen's fiancé Wayne Rooney, 22, is learning Italian after a recent trip to Milan.
'Wayne fancied learning another language and opted for Italian after his trip with Coleen,' a source tells The Sun. 'He wants to make more of an effort with locals when he's away.'
