Socialite returns £500 frock to London designer boutique
Monday, 21 April 2008
Peaches Geldof was involved in a ‘misunderstanding’ at a clothes shop last week.
The socialite, 18, visited Victim, the exclusive London boutique of designer Mei-hui Liu on Thursday, and left without paying for a £500 silk frock.
Peaches returned 2 hours later with the dress after Mei-hui called her agent to alert them of the mistake.
‘She said the dress had got caught up in her scarf and because it was the same colour she didn't realise she had it in her arms,' Mei-hui tells the Daily Mail.
On examination, the designer says she realised the frock was damaged so one of Peaches’ aides paid for it next day.
‘The agent's assistant arrived on Friday afternoon with the money for the dress,’ explains Mei-Hu. ‘The dress is worth £500 but we charged £250.’
A spokesman for Insanity Talent Management insists that Peaches did nothing wrong.
‘It was an honest mistake,' he says, 'and Peaches went back to the store having been told the dress was missing.
‘She most definitely has not been shoplifting and nothing has been reported to the police.’
Meanwhile, musician dad Bob, 56, was in court on Friday in his bid to fully adopt the daughter of ex-wife Paul Yates and her lover Michael Hutchence.
Michael was found dead in his hotel room in 1997 and Paula died of a heroin overdose in 2000.
Bob wants to give Tiger Lily Hutchence, 11, his surname – but Michael’s sister Tina is against the idea, reports The Sun.
A ruling is expected by July.
