Letters found at TV presenter's home and on his body
Wednesday, 16 April 2008
A suicide note was found on the body of Mark Speight, it emerged at a coroner’s court.
A second note was found at his flat in St John's Wood, London.
Details of what the letters said have not been disclosed.
The TV presenter went missing last week and was found hanged on Sunday in a remote area of London's Paddington station.
At the inquest in West London, the coroner Dr Paul Knapman said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and British Transport Police confirmed that a postmortem found the cause was hanging.
Mark, 42, had been struggling to cope with the loss of fiancée Natasha Collins, who died on 3 January at their apartment after they had both taken cocaine.
He was originally arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs but no charges were brought. A coroner recorded a verdict of death by misadventure for Natasha.
To help him cope with his distress, the BBC SMart host had been staying with Natasha's mother but failed to meet her in a Covent Garden cafe before his disappearance on Monday last week.
A security camera caught Mark entering Queen's Park underground station where he travelled on the Bakerloo Line to Paddington.
A full inquest into his death will open in May.
