Celeb Grilling - you ask the questions
Monday, 15 October 2007
kelly Brook can’t stop talking about how much she’s enjoying learning to dance for Strictly Come Dancing. ‘I haven’t got any blisters yet, but I can’t believe how hard it is,’ she says, adding that she’s in it to win it, but keeps getting distracted. ‘I’m not a very good student,’ she giggles. ‘I just want to twirl around the room, but I’m sure my dance partner Brendan Cole will get me into shape.’
Not only is Kelly, 28, practising hard for the show, she’s also promoting her new style book, launching a perfume and providing one of the voices for a new cartoon. But of course she found time for Now, so we put your probing questions to her…
What made you decide to do Strictly Come Dancing?
Jo Crowther, Gosport
It’s my granny and my niece’s favourite show and I love it, too. It’s one of the only light entertainment shows on TV that isn’t trying to make people look bad. It’s also super-glamorous and sexy.
Do you have any special costumes lined up?
Helen Thame, Gloucestershire
Yes, but the word sequin is banned – I’ve got Swarovski crystals instead.
If I make it through to the final I’ll wear a see-through leotard with
lots of strategically placed crystals.
How did you feel when you got Brendan Cole as your partner, considering his reputation with the ladies?
Tracey Marshall, Hove
Brendan’s been great – nothing but a gentleman and loads of fun. I think he’s just pleased he’s got a partner who wants to try hard and go as far in the competition as possible.I quite like the idea of having that trophy in my bathroom.
Is your fiancé Billy Zane worried about Brendan having his hands on you?
Julia Thompson, Leamington Spa
Well, if we’re dancing in the right way, everyone will be wondering if anything is going on because that’s the idea, isn’t it? It’s all acting, so hopefully Billy will understand.
Billy’s played a dance instructor on stage – has he given you any lessons?
Claire Rennie, Market Harborough
He actually trained with Craig Revel Horwood, who’s one of the judges on Strictly. He’s a great little mover and he tried to teach me, but I wasn’t paying much attention at the time.
Who do you think is your biggest competition?
Jane White, Leominster
I think it’ll probably be Penny Lancaster-Stewart and Ian Waite. Penny’s got fabulous long legs. Brendan’s danced with her before and told me that she’s great.
Aside from Billy, who’s been your favourite co-star?
Kate Gaines, Blackpool
Brendan because he’s someone I can learn something from. It makes a change to work with someone with a talent that I can improve from. Most of the blokes I work with try to steal the limelight and get all the laughs. At least this time I’ve got a man who wants to make me look good.
How do you keep in shape?
Sue Pritchard, Tenby
I eat what I like, but I try to stay healthy. I eat three meals a day and don’t snack on bad things.
Would you ever consider having plastic surgery?
Bea Walton, York
I’d never say never, but I think I’m too squeamish to do it.
How does it feel to be going up against Victoria Beckham with your own style book?
Annie Moore, Reading
Victoria’s very different to me – she talks a lot about brands and she’s very much led by fashion and what the designers are doing. I don’t think the everyday girl can call Roberto Cavalli to sketch her fabulous dresses or buy Christian Louboutin shoes. My book will show women how you can dress sexily whatever shape or size you are.
When are you and Billy going to get married?
Yasmin Gould, Mansfield
[Laughs] We haven’t set a date, but I’m very much in love. Hopefully
it’ll be sometime next year. I’d like it to be small and intimate.
What would you say is the strangest thing you’ve ever read about yourself?
Helen Trent, Newcastle upon Tyne
Everything you read about yourself is strange because it’s someone else’s opinion and they always get it wrong. I often say things as a joke, but that never comes across in print.
You’re always topping Sexiest Female polls. What makes you feel sexy?
Jessica Grey, Loughborough
Getting dressed up to go out somewhere with my man. When you’ve been in a relationship for a while you sometimes think: ‘Oh, I’ll just chuck on a jacket and jeans,’ but it’s nice to make an effort.
