Biography
Her status as the on-off girlfriend of Prince William has ensured that Kate Middleton has been the subject of intense media coverage across the globe.
Born in Reading, Berkshire, Kate met Prince William in 2001 while the pair were studying at the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland.
The relationship brought increasing paparazzi attention and consequently 24-hour Royal protection for Kate in 2006, while some retailers even prepared commemorative merchandise in anticipation of an engagement announcement.
In April 2007, The Sun newspaper broke a ‘world exclusive’ suggesting the pair had split, but there were reports of a reconciliation just two months later, when Kate was spotted just seats away from William at the memorial Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium.
Known for her Sloane style, history of art graduate Kate took a job as an accessories buyer at clothing chain Jigsaw in 2006, but reports have linked her with a career change to photographer.
