Biography

Thanks to media interest in her Manchester United footballer husband Wayne, Coleen Rooney (née McLoughlin) has become a celebrity in her own right.

Liverpool born and bred, Coleen began dating Wayne at 16, when the pair were in their final year at secondary school. Despite landing a small part in Hollyoaks after finishing her A levels, she put an acting career on hold to accept an engagement ring from Wayne.

From paparazzi shots of her as a shy schoolgirl, Coleen has transformed herself into a famed shopaholic and one of the most prominent WAGs. Despite being derided for her early tracksuit-and-fake-tan style, she made her modelling debut in British Vogue in 2005 and later netted a £3million deal to design a clothing range for George at Asda.

As her profile has increased, Coleen has reaped the benefits of various endorsements and media work. She has her own ITV2 show called Coleen's Real Women and has released an autobiography - Welcome To My World - and an exercise video. She is also a keen supporter of charities - including Jeans For Genes Day - as her younger sister Rosie has the genetic disorder Rett syndrome.

Despite Wayne admitting that he had been with prostitutes when he first started seeing Coleen, the couple tied the knot on 20 June 2008 in a lavish ceremony on the Italian Riviera. 

They welcomed their first child, Kai Wayne, into the world on 2 November 2009.
