Celeb Grilling - you ask the questions
Monday, 31 March 2008
Peter Andre has won our hearts. When we meet to put your questions to him, he’s not only one of the friendliest people we’ve ever spoken to, but also one of the sweetest. Married to Katie Price, who he famously met in the jungle on I’m A Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here!, they have two children together – Junior, two, and Princess Tiáamii, nine months – as well as Katie’s son Harvey, five, from her relationship with Dwight Yorke.
Peter, 35, answers every question with a smile and he even stops the interview to attend to his daughter when she starts to cry. A perfect modern man. But what we really want to know are the secrets behind being half of one of Britain’s most famous couples.
How do you like to chill out?
Shannon O’Leary, Newcastle
Kate and I watch movies and Forensic Detectives on the Discovery Channel. I love cooking Italian food, too.
Who’s more vain, you or Katie?
Rebecca Hawkins, Welshpool
Kate spends more time in the bathroom. Now that I’ve shaved my head I’m in and out in seconds.
What’s your most treasured possession?
Pauline Jones, Rochdale
My kids. I love being a dad – there’s nothing better in the world. It’s totally changed
me and humbled me. Having kids has chilled me out a lot.
What would you like your children to do when they grow up?
Laura Sawyer, Cirencester
Whatever they want to do – but I’d like them to learn a trade. Our kids may have a mum and dad who can support them, but we want them to work for their money like we did.
What’s your favourite childhood memory?
Kelly Stokes, Kings Lynn
Leaving England for Australia when I was six. We thought we were going on holiday, but we actually left for good. I remember having a great going-away party with my friends.
What’s the most ridiculous thing anyone has said about you and Katie?
Jenny McArthur, Harrogate
That we were splitting up, which is not true at all.
Would you renew your vows?
Vicky Stewart, Exeter
Yes, but it’s not about bettering the first time. Katie had postnatal depression at the time, so she’d like to redo it so that she can feel what she wanted to before. We might do it on a secluded beach.
Is it true that you’re going to adopt a child?
Claire Richards, Corby
We’d like to. We saw a programme on Bulgarian orphans and it was sad. We want to have more of our own first.
You lived in Cyprus for a while. Would you ever move back?
Natasha Andrews, Newmarket
Cyprus is my second home and I love visiting, but I don’t think I could leave England.
Have you had a ride in your private jet yet?
Shirley Stuart, Glasgow
Kate and I are looking at buying one because we travel all the time. We want to get the real deal, but it won’t be a pink one, I can assure you – and we won’t be flying it ourselves.
Would you ever do another reality TV show?
Kerry Evans, Hartlepool
I don’t think so. If I did, I’d do something like Survivor, but not Big Brother. On I’m A Celebrity… you had to prove yourself.
How many tattoos do you have?
Sarah Griffin, Ballymena
Four. I’ve got one on my lower back of the Ten Commandments and one on my arm, which is the letters T, J and H for my kids. I’ve got another one that has each member of my family, plus a band on my arm, which is the only one I wish I hadn’t had done because it’s not symbolic.
Do you find it harder to maintain your physique now that you’re 35?
Franca Crawford, Burnley
Your body does change when you get into your thirties, but I’m workingwith an ex
marine to get in shape. It’s hard, but it’s worth it. Forget liposuction and steroids, I like good old-fashioned Rocky-style training.
Who’s the rudest celeb you’ve ever met?
Jane Daniels, Doncaster
Tony Hadley, the lead singer of Spandau Ballet, was horrible the first time I met him, but when I bumped into him again recently he was the loveliest bloke ever. Up and coming stars are usually the rude ones, not the people who are successful. I went through it when I first started out, but I’m glad I’ve changed now.
Do you have any regrets?
Amir Noorani, Burnley
I regret that I took it so seriously when I had success in the 90s, because it caused me to have a major breakdown.
Are you going to be recording more music?
Sonia Davey, Gloucester
Definitely. But it’ll be the kind of stuff I want to do. I love rock-based and old soul music.
What’s your definition of happiness?
Tessa Greenway, Oldham
Watching movies on the sofa with my wife and kids while eating popcorn.
Does Katie really wear the trousers in your relationship?
Tamir Hosney, Bradford
Yes, but only because I let her! n
Katie And Peter: The Next Chapter is on ITV2 at 9pm on Thursdays
Prize Question
What was it that first attracted you to Katie?
Sarah Bilton, York
It was actually her green eyes. We were in the jungle at the time and her hair was braided and she was fully clothed, so what I noticed straight away was that she had the most amazing eyes.
