Mark Speight was approached by police offices just hours before he was reported missing, it has emerged.
The CBBC presenter appeared ‘distracted and deep in thought’ as he walked in North London on Monday.
Scotland Yard say the officers gave him the opportunity to seek medical help, but Mark refused, saying he ‘needed to leave'.
He had been due to meet Carmen Collins – mother of his fiancée Natasha, who died of a cocaine overdose – in Covent Garden, but did not arrive.
Friends and relatives immediately became concerned and reported him missing.
Mark, 42, has been described as ‘vulnerable’ since finding Natasha's body in their London apartment having taken an overdose of cocaine in January.
