Beyonce Knowles and Jay Z take out marriage licence

Couple get the ball rolling in New York

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay Z secretly took out a marriage licence in Scarsdale, New York, yesterday.

And insiders say they are planning a May ceremony, after Jay Z's tour ends.

'Jay is trying to pull it together quickly and on the fly,' a source tells Us Weekly.

'They really wanted it to be private."

In September the rapper, 38, hinted that they would wed 'one day soon', and 2 months later there were rumours they tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Paris.

Beyoncé, 26, has been dating Jay Z for 4 years.
