Charlotte Church launches £4m hospital fundraiser

Singer says she feels 'blessed' to be a mum

Charlotte Church helped launch a £4m fundraising drive for the Children's Hospital For Wales in Cardiff yesterday.

As part of the hospital's Noah's Ark Appeal, Charlotte is urging parents to cuddle their kids regularly.

The singer, who posed with newborn babies during the visit, says being a mum encouraged her to do her bit for the campaign.

'It's crazy - I just feel much, much more strongly about this appeal,' she tells the Daily Mirror. 'It means so much more when you're a mother.

'I think once you have a child you become a mother to all. It makes you realise how precious babies are. I feel blessed and so lucky.'

Charlotte, 22, has been taking a break since giving birth to Ruby six months ago.

She's been spending time at her £800,000 farmhouse in the Vale of Glamorgan with boyfriend Gavin Henson, 26, and says he's a great father. 'She's a daddy's girl through and through. Gavin is really good with her.'

And she insists her cosy home life won't change when she returns to her TV career in the summer.

'It's only one day a week filming, so I'll take Ruby to London with me,' she tells the Daily Star.
