Singer’s cameo attracts over 10m viewers

Britney Spears has received rave reviews for her appearance in US sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

The singer, 26, was praised for her comedy timing in the role of love-struck receptionist Abby.

‘Spears proved she can act every bit as well as she can sing,’ said the New York Daily News critic.

The episode, which has just aired in America, was a ratings hit, too. It notched up 10.6m viewers – the show’s highest viewing figures this season.
