Christian Bale: Heath Ledger was a unique man

Actor ‘gets goose bumps’ watching late pal on screen

Christian Bale says that working opposite Heath Ledger was ‘a joy’.

The actors filmed new Batman movie The Dark Night together, with Christian starring as the Caped Crusader and Heath as psychotic bank robber The Joker.

‘He was a very unique man. I enjoyed watching him work, working with him,’ Christian, 34 admits.

‘What was so great to see with Heath is just how seriously he took it. He did one hell of a job.’

Christian has seen a sneak peek of the movie and reckons it’s going to be great.

‘It gave me goose bumps throughout, looking at Heath up there. And I just hope that this can celebrate him, celebrate his work,’ he tells Entertainment Weekly.

‘I don't like kind of trivializing the tragedy in conjunction with an interview to do with the movie, which is clearly far less important. But Heath was a joy,’

Heath Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment earlier this year, aged 28.
