Heather Mills is 'her own worst enemy' says judge

Mr Justice Bennett’s ruling in her divorce battle with Sir Paul McCartney goes public

Heather Mills has been heavily criticised by the High Court judge who presided over her divorce from Sir Paul McCartney.

Mr Justice Bennett says the model indulged in 'make-believe' and gave ‘inaccurate’ and ‘less than candid’ evidence.

Heather was seeking £125m from the former Beatle but was awarded a £24.3m settlement.

‘Overall she was a less than impressive witness,’ Mr Justice Bennett concluded in his 58-page judgement, adding that she had an ‘explosive and volatile character’ and was ‘her own worst enemy’.

In contrast, he said that Macca, 65, was a reliable witness: ‘He expressed himself moderately though at times with justifiable irritation, if not anger. He was consistent, accurate and honest.’

The former glamour model had attempted to prevent the full details of the proceedings being made public - but failed.

In cross-examination, she was forced to admit that she'd asked Sir Paul to pay off a non-existant £480,000 mortgage on a home she had already paid for. She claimed she had confused the house with another.

Last night, Heather, 40, said the judgment was ‘outrageous’ and refused to give fuller comments.
