Paula Abdul: I can make Simon Cowell squirt water out of his nose

American Idol judges have a lively relationship

Paula Abdul constantly bickers with Simon Cowell on American Idol.

'Just when you think we’re all getting on, Simon turns and we get back into our little quarrels,' she explains.

'I suppose it’s quite funny to watch, but he’s so infuriating. I can make him laugh so hard that the water in his cup will come out his nose and I live for that.

'We have a good work balance. We’re an old married couple, it’s a wretched thought, but true.’

So is Paula, 44, sure that she doesn't fancy Simon, 48, just a little bit?

'Maybe subconsciously, in a really weird, Freudian way,' she tells Now.

'There’s a fascination with British men in the US – women seem to think they’re sexy. It doesn’t seem to matter that Simon always wears the same jeans and sweater. At least his style’s been consistent, but I don’t get it, especially the square hair.

'He’ll always say, "Paula, you know you want me", and I’ll play along with it. Somehow I managed to resist the temptation so far. It’s been hard, but I’ve managed not to go there.’

American Idol is on ITV2 at 8pm on Thursdays and 9pm on Fridays.
