Becks meets the carers who looked after him when he first visited America
Monday, 17 March 2008
David Beckham had an emotional reunion at the weekend with a family that looked after him 19 years ago.
Mexican-Americans Sam and Christine Alcala opened their Dallas home to Becks when he visited America for the first time, aged 13, with his Essex Schoolboys side.
And on Saturday, the footie hunk, 32, went back after LA Galaxy's friendly against FC Dallas to thank them.
'It was nice to see them,' he tells the Daily Mirror. 'I've been searching for them for a few years.'
During the visit, David gave the couple a signed copy of his autobiography Both Feet On The Ground and his LA Galaxy shirt.
In his memoirs, he talked about his experience with the Alcalas: 'The rest of the lads seemed to be staying with wealthier people. But my family collected me from the airport in a pickup truck and were so friendly.
'Every morning we would go to McDonald's for coffee, pancakes and syrup. I had the best time.'
