Singer short of cash to settle up with taxi driver

Amy Winehouse was left red-faced yesterday when she couldn’t afford to pay her cab driver.

The singer, who recently spent a stint in rehab, caught a taxi home from a shopping trip in north London after stocking up on PG Tips and milk.

After returning home, she went inside to find some cash but came out empty-handed.

Amy, 23, looked rather embarrassed, but thankfully photographers on the scene stepped foward to lend her the money.

Mum Janis, 52, is reported to be in charge of Amy’s finances and gives her an allowance of £300 a week in a bid to cut her spending on drugs.
