Singer has huge peony inked on wrist

Ashlee Simpson has a new tattoo on her wrist.

The huge peony was inked onto her skin on Monday, the night before she appeared on a morning radio show sounding a little frazzled.

Listeners wrongly suspected that Ashlee, 23, was tipsy, which she's denied on her MySpace blog, insisting she takes her work 'very seriously' and would never arrive for an interview in an inebriated state.

'It is my belief that they automatically assumed that because I got a tattoo I must have drank that night,' she writes.

Ashlee's representative has also confirmed the singer was perfectly sober.

'Ashlee was absolutely not intoxicated this morning on Hot 99.5.' the rep told E!Online after the interview. 'She has been working extremely hard....she was simply just tired.'

Ashlee, 23, who is Jessica Simpson's little sister, is dating Fallout Boy bassist Pete Wentz.

Her third album, Bittersweet World, is due for release on 22 April.
