Drew Barrymore donates £500,000 to charity

Actress keen to help fund the World Food Programme

Drew Barrymore has donated a whopping £500,000 to charity.

The actress made the generous contribution to the World Food Programme to help feed children in Africa.

She made the announcement on Monday's Oprah Winfrey Show.

‘I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child's life,’ the actress reveals.

‘It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future.’

Drew, 33, has worked with the charity for 3 years and became an Ambassador Against Hunger in 2007.

She's taken 2 trips to Kenya to see the organization's work first hand.

Meanwhile, she's enjoying a holiday in Mexico with boyfriend Justin Long, 29, to celebrate her 33rd birthday.
