Madonna: I want to be a film director

Material Girl still wants to get behind camera, despite scathing reviews

Madonna has vowed to press on with her film career – despite receiving scathing reviews for her directorial debut.

The singer unveiled her movie Filth And Wisdom, about a struggling rock musician who becomes a dominatrix to finance his career, at the Berlin Film Festival last month.

Critics slammed the flick, labelling it contrived and saying it wasn’t a true representation of contemporary London life.

But Madge, who turns 50 this August, is undeterred.

‘I would like to direct more films and write them,’ she says. ‘I've only done one. To me that's the beginning of that career.’

But Madonna, who has 3 children - Lourdes, 11, from a previous relationship, and sons Rocco, 7, and adopted David Banda, 2, with husband Guy Ritchie, 39 – says motherhood is her biggest challenge.

‘I’d like to be a better parent. I still have my children to raise. That’s a big responsibility, I’m not done with that,’ she tells the Daily Mirror.

‘Lourdes has a very strong opinion of clothes and fashion and a strong personality so that’ll be a challenge for me. She says she wants to be an actress.’

Madonna’s new album, Hard Candy, comes out next month.
