Ex tried to make him check into rehab
Thursday, 31 January 2008
Heath Ledger ignored former fiancée Michelle Williams' pleas to check into rehab.
In March 2006, the actress is reported to have become so worried about his lifestyle that she drove him to the Promises Treatment Center in Malibu to get help, but Heath got cold feet and wouldn't register.
The Brokeback Mountain star, who died on 22 January at the age of 28, is said to have become a fixture on the New York party scene where heroin and cocaine are freely available.
After Heath and Michelle split, US Weekly sources claim Michelle, 27, ordered Heath to be drugs tested before he spent time with their daughter Matilda, now 2.
Heath's New York publicist publicist Mara Buxbaum has denied the claims.
‘Much of the tabloid reporting is inaccurate,' she tells ninemsn.com.
'This fabricated story of Michelle Williams attempting to bring Heath Ledger to rehab is just one lie among many. The speculation is heinous. Let this family grieve privately.'
Heath’s death remains inconclusive. Further tests are being carried out.
Meanwhile, unfinished film The Imaginarium Of Doctor Panrassus is fast becoming a tribute to the star. Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sean Penn and Christian Bale are all said to be willing to step in to help finish the shooting.
