Mary J Blige believes Amy Winehouse can save the music industry

Diva advises the troubled singer to give up drugs

Mary J Blige and Amy Winehouse

Mary J Blige has urged Amy Winehouse to get help with her drug addiction because she thinks the singer has an original new sound.

‘Someone like Amy Winehouse is so important to the music business right now’, says Mary, 36.

‘It’s very painful to see her battle drugs. I hope she makes it.

‘I think the music industry got lost and we ended up in a drought for a while, but I see it making a turn, so instead of music being just synthetic, we’ll see it going back to actual instruments.’

And Mary hopes to duet with Amy, too.

‘That’s what I’m hoping anyway,' she tells Interview, 'because that’s the kind of music I’m making.'
