Devastated Michelle Williams returns to New York

Heath’s ex girlfriend arrives in US with daughter Matilda

Heath Ledger's ex-fiancee Michelle Williams arrived in New York last night.

The actress, 27 - who is mum to the actor's 2-year-old daughter Matilda - was filming in Sweden on Tuesday when she heard the news of his shocking death at 28.

After her plane touched down from Gothenburg, Michelle did not stop to talk to waiting reporters as she headed home to Brooklyn but her father Larry Williams has spoken out.

‘It has just broken everybody’s heart in my family,’ he tells Australia's Daily Telegraph.

‘My heart goes out to everyone, his family, my family, we are just very saddened.

‘The saddest thing is his daughter, whom he just loved dearly.’

Reports suggest that Heath’s split from Michelle last year threw the Hollywood star into a deep depression.

His body was released by the coroner to a New York funeral home yesterday following an ‘inconclusive’ autopsy.
