Victoria and David Beckham's family feuds revealed
Why Posh and Becks' relatives will never get on
Thursday, 24 January 2008
David and Victoria Beckham enjoy a luxury lifestyle but all the money in the world can’t buy you new in-laws – much to Posh’s dismay.
She dutifully rushed to the bedside of father-in-law Ted Beckham after he suffered a massive heart attack in 2007, but last week, when David took the boys to went to see his dad at home in Chingford, Essex, Victoria didn’t go.
This has upset David, 32, but Victoria has never forgiven Ted for ‘selling out’ by writing a book on David without their permission over 2 years ago.
‘Ted is as stubborn as Victoria and doesn’t see why he has to suck up to his daughter-in-law,' reveals Now's insider. 'Relations are as frosty now as they’ve ever been and it doesn’t look like there’s any chance of them being repaired.’
The Beckhams and the Adamses have been ill at ease with each other ever since David and Victoria, 33, got together 11 years ago. It’s incredibly rare to see them mingle together.
Victoria’s family are all on the Brand Beckham payroll. Dad Tony and brother Christian are in charge of security for the couple, while Victoria’s younger sister Louise has been paid for her role as a nanny. The Adamses seem to be at the hub of everything the couple do.
But while David’s working-class family are very proud of having a superstar in their ranks, they’ve never accepted any money from their star relative because, as one close relation put it: ‘They don’t want to be seen poncing off David.’
‘This has created many an argument in the past,’ says our well-placed source.
‘David has been at his wits’ end on several occasions. During one heated exchange, he turned to Victoria and asked: “Why do your family always want something off us?” As quick as a flash, Victoria said: “At least none of them has sold their story to the press or written books about us.”’

Posh vs Becks: the main players
THE ADAMS FAMILY
MOTHER, Jackie, 59
If Victoria or David aren’t around, then Jackie’s next in command. She’s paid for her role looking after the Beckham household.
FATHER, Tony, 60
After making his fortune running a wholesale electrical business, Victoria’s dad Tony oversees security and transport for Posh and Becks.
SISTER, Louise, 31
Victoria’s younger sibling has been on and off the payroll in her role as chief nanny to the children. Victoria also bought Louise a £160,000 house in their home village of Goffs Oak in Hertfordshire and paid the nursery fees for her daughter Liberty, 9.
BROTHER, Christian, 27
Christian has remained low-key and his role in Brand Beckham isn’t clear. He helps out his dad and Victoria also bought him a house. According to one source, he works in the marketing industry.
THE BECKHAM FAMILY
MOTHER, Sandra, 51
Sandra was a hairdresser and wife to Ted before their divorce in 2002. She’s a favoured babysitter for her grandchildren and the only Beckham that the Adams family feel comfortable with.
FATHER, Ted, 59
Gas fitter Ted has never given up work and is adamant he wants to stay in his modest home in Chingford despite his son wanting to buy him a fancier place. Ted won’t budge and insists: ‘I don’t get a penny from anyone – I earn my own living.’
SISTER, Lynne, 35
Hardly known outside the Beckham family, Lynne leads a quiet life with her husband of nearly 9 years Colin and their 3 kids.
SISTER, Joanne, 25
Joanne is David’s closest sibling. She has her own hair and nail salon in Loughton, Essex, which she paid for herself. Although Joanne is a fixture on the celeb circuit, she’s never taken money from David. She hasn’t been seen in public with Victoria since the 2006 World Cup.
