Carla Bruni officially denies marriage rumours

Model says she's not French President Nicolas Sarkozy's wife

Carla Bruni has finally spoken out about rumours she secretly wed French President Nicolas Sarkozy 2 weeks ago.

The model, 40, says not only are they not spliced, she may never become the 52-year-old's bride.

‘We are not yet married,’ she says. ‘Even if we are planning to.’

The lovers were reported to have tied the knot at the Elysée Palace in Paris earlier this month in a low-key ceremony.

But Carla says it didn't happen and therefore she won't be able to accompany Nicolas to Britain for a state visit in March.

‘I cannot take part in an official visit with the President,’ she tells the Daily Express.

Nicolas has been married twice before but Carla, who has one son, has never tied the knot.

In the past, she has claimed to prefer a more bohemian attitude to relationships.

'I'm monogamous from time to time, but I prefer polygamy and polyandry,' she said.
