Ryan Phillippe: Divorce was the worst time in my life

Actor reveals he couldn’t get out of bed after split with Reese Witherspoon

Ryan Phillipe says he found his separation from Reese Witherspoon so hard to cope with he couldn’t face the world. The couple were married for seven years.

‘[Divorce] was the darkest, saddest place I had ever been,' the actor reveals. ‘There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed. It was the worst time in my life.’

Ryan, 33, shares custody of their children Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4, and says he's now coming to terms with the split.

'It's a process that's not easy, but I get less and less sad about it every day,’ he tells W Magazine.

Ryan stars in the new war film Stop-Loss which is set in Iraq.
