Disgraced Celebrity Big Brother star Jo O’Meara has revealed that 'stable therapy' helped her get over the trauma of Shilpa-gate.
The 28-year-old became a public hate figure in 2007 after she, Danielle Lloyd and Jade Goody were accused of bullying Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty.
Jo was comforted after the debacle by her rapport with horses.
'I'm sure that sounds daft to some people,' she explains. 'But animals don't judge you. And when they come to trust you, it's just such a rewarding and unconditional thing. I love it. Being with animals was my therapy.
'I’ve always loved animals and always had a weakness for ones that have been hurt or abandoned. Over the years I’ve rescued 16 horses in all.’
And Jo reckons she’s become a better person after surviving the Big Brother fall-out.
‘Last year was probably the worst of my life,’ she tells the Mail On Sunday. ‘But in another way I’m grateful because it made me look at my life differently.
'I didn’t realise how special certain things were and now I appreciate everything that happens to me. I hit rock bottom but I survived. I just had to go back to something real.’
Jo is now 6 months pregnant with her first child.
