Judges' private room is tapped
Friday, 18 January 2008
Police have arrested a man after it emerged that the auditions for the new series of Britain's Got Talent were bugged.
A private room used by judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan, 42, and Amanda Holden, 36, at Manchester's Palace Theatre had a listening device planted in it.
It's believed to have been put there by someone who auditioned as a fake performer.
Show creator Simon, 48, is fuming because the bug caused chaos with sound equipment.
‘I really don't know what they were hoping to find out,’ a spokesperson tells the Daily Mirror.
‘Simon is astonished at the lengths they'd go to to find out a few behind-the-scenes secrets. Most people just wait for the show.
‘We'd had sound problems all day because the device uses the same frequency as our internal talkback system.’
Britain's Got Talent returns to ITV1 in April.
